Our Story
Long-Term Missionaries to Bohol, Philippines, through Heartland Baptist Missions and Smyrna Baptist Church.
The Family
Collin and Riva were married on April 16, 2021, in Utah County. The Lord has since added four children to our home: Lillyan Rose, Hannah Elisabeth, Mark Steven, and Jabez Victory Theophilus. We are convinced that the call to the mission field is a call to the whole family, and the Philippines is where the Lord has placed our hearts.
Riva is a native of the Philippines and a tremendous helpmeet on the field, assisting children at school assemblies with verses, translating for newer team members, and tirelessly serving alongside Collin in evangelism and church work.
Collin's Testimony
In April of 2012, I grew disillusioned with the social gospel of the United Methodist Church I had been attending, and I went searching online for the gospel. I came across an independent fundamental Baptist website that shared the gospel plainly.
The site had a link on every page that said, "Ye must be born again." I was initially drawn in by the various articles preaching against evolution, abortion, the Catholic church, and other topics — but as I read, I was continuously drawn back to those words: Ye must be born again.
I clicked the link and read the gospel. I recognized my sinful condition for the first time. Fear and dread of the pending judgment for my sin came over me, and I called out to the Lord to save me from my sin and give me a home in heaven. A few months later I was baptized at Hyles Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Since that day Jesus has worked in my heart to clean up my life, lead me to a sound local Baptist church, give me a godly wife, and entrust to me a calling I never imagined. He used the United States Marine Corps to humble me and teach me to serve. I had been on track to become a Marine officer and a pilot, but I withdrew the application — as I told the recruiters at the time — in order "to get out and be a free man to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ."
That calling has taken our family to Bohol, Philippines.
The Road to the Field
For three years our family has been ministering on extended trips to the island of Bohol — preaching in public schools by formal endorsement, supporting Bible-believing Baptist churches, and providing tech support to ministries through our software company.
A New Chapter
On May 19, 2026, the Executive Committee of Heartland Baptist Missions welcomed our family into their Long-Term Missionary Program. We attend HBM Candidate School July 20–24, 2026, and look forward to the next chapter of work — Lord willing, full-time ministry in the Philippines.
“What a privilege to be part of God's plan to draw the unreached into a relationship with Himself through Jesus Christ.” — Bob Taylor, President, HBM
